Lee Littlewood Lee's Better Letters

Lee’s Better Letters is a result of the fine art of calligraphy hitting the real world of making a living. Started as a one-man shop in the basement in 1972, it has expanded to a one-man shop with a number of colleagues in an elegant warehouse space.

We’re Not Your Typical Company

By operating more as a consortium than a standard company, we apply experience from different fields to your sign problem.

Glass and surface gilding, silkscreen printing, fine art painting, sign carving, scenic painting and set design help expand the usual commercial sign shop abilities. Yes, we provide custom lettering on any surface, but we can also help with special situations.

Specialty Work

Because we’re a custom shop, every sign we make is related to its particular place, rather than a standard design. Every sign type is a range – a board sign can be plain or highly complex, a wall can be painted or have carved letters applied.

Specialized work is usually connected to a demonstrated ability. An historic architect is looking for someone to re-do or re-create, using historic materials and techniques. A job site supervisor wants someone who has done this type of work before. We try to be their expert.

We’re Not Your Typical Company

We help people create a living environment that speaks intimately of those who dwell there, honors the architectural legacy of their home, and makes it an important part of their own personal history.

Our projects range from full home restoration to the decoration of a single room. Our consultations assist people in understanding their home's architectural history so they can make the best decisions in retaining its integrity while making it comfortable to live in today. We specialize in design, color consultation, one of a kind hand-painted friezes and artwork primarily for historic homes.
