Ariel Grace Design, founded in 2019 by Karla Pearlstein and Gwen Jones, specializes in beautifully crafted, custom-designed floorcloths. Karla is PAG’s president, a renowned preservationist, and a longtime lover and owner of floorcloths. Gwen co-owns Bolling & Company (a fellow PAG member) which specializes in rare museum quality antique wallpapers and has over a decade of experience as a floorcloth maker having produced over 1000 floorcloths for clients in 19 countries.
The floorcloths shown here represent pieces from Ariel Grace Design’s first collection based on the works of the iconic designer, Christopher Dresser’s seminal work, “Studies in Design”, circa 1875. The Dresser Collection consists of eight patterns adapted to stencils and used to create custom floorcloths that perfectly complement their surroundings while protecting the beautifully restored floors of Portland’s Firehouse 17, a 2019 DeMuro Award winner for excellence in historic preservation and adaptive reuse.
This is the first of many planned collections for Ariel Grace Design. We intend to produce collections that span design eras from the 1800s to the present and work with clients to create perfect custom floorcloths.
